History
Our mission is to promote quality of life for people with autism spectrum disorders and their families. ASC was founded in 1970 by parents who fought for their children to attend public schools. Victory was the passage of IDEA in 1975. Volunteers produced newsletters, worked on legislation, and provided information and referrals. ASC hired a professional staff in 2003 and has slowly been growing into the organization it is today. ASC has spearheaded 15 laws resulting in more than $50 million in funding for supports and services in Colorado. ASC is one of the most respected disability nonprofits in statewide policy efforts.
