The 16th Street Mall is a pedestrian and transit mall that runs through the heart of Denver's Downtown. It is illegal for cars and bikes (except Sundays) to drive on the mall, but shuttle busses drive up and down the street frequently. The 1.25 mile long street starts at Civic Center Station and ends at the historic Union Station. Over 300 shops and restaurants are located on the 16th Street Mall.
Parking and public transportation
While it is forbidden for cars to drive on 16th street, there are several pay lots and meters on side streets throughout the mall. A shuttle goes up and down the mall and stops at most cross streets. A schedule can be accessed at https://www.rtd-denver.com.
Best and worst time to go 16th Street Mall
The best time to go is during the day during the week when it is less crowded and the shuttles run more often. The worst time is late on a Friday or Saturday night, when the nearby downtown bars let out.

The mall is free to visit but be prepared to pay for parking at a lot or at a meter.
Must see/do at 16th Street Mall
Shop, dine or catch a movie in the bustling Denver Pavillions which also features all kinds of shops. Take a picture with one of the pieces of public art located throughout or stop and play a tune on one of several pianos provided by the City of Denver.
Other places to visit near 16th Street Mall
Make sure to take the shuttle all the way South to see historic LoDo and the newly renovated Union Station and other historic buildings. To the immediate West, home of the Colorado Rockies, Coors Field can be seen, maybe take in a home game in the gorgeous park!

Illegal Pete's, located at 16th and Wazee, is a local restaurant chain that has their own record label. Stop in for a burrito and ask them about their bands.
