Established in 1980, the YMCA Childcare Resource Service, a department of the YMCA of San Diego County, works for the well-being of children and families. The department assists families in finding child care services. It also advocates families at local, state and national levels. The YMCA Childcare Resource Service provides child development resources and training. The department collects local child care supply and demand data. It additionally supports the Healthline program, which offers resources and referrals on various topics, such as injury prevention, immunization and communicable disease. The YMCA Childcare Resource Service has a special needs unit that offers respite care services.
