Wilmar Volunteer Fire Department is a community organization working to protect and help the residents of Petaluma and the surrounding areas. The department serves more than 14 square miles and is made up of 40 dedicated and professional volunteer firefighters and support staff. The department responds to more than 300 emergency incidents a year and provides mainly medical emergency help. The department also has responded to structural and wild land fires, hazardous-materials incidents, rescues, vehicle accidents and much more. Some vehicles and apparatuses used include water tenders, fire engines and rescue trucks.
