History
Family F.O.C.U.S. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It was founded in 2000 by Prudy Tanner. At the time, Prudy was the Department Head of Child Development for Porterville College. Prudy recognized an increasing need for Licensed Infant and Toddler Care in Tulare County. She gathered a Board of Directors made up of professionals in the field and opened the first ever Infant/Toddler Center in Porterville California. Since then the organization has grown and expanded to Visalia California in 2015.
Specialties
Family F.O.C.U.S. provides free and reduced cost child care services to families. We understand that infants and toddlers need a nurturing environment, sensitive to their individual needs and schedules. Our Infant/Toddler Teachers receive specialized training in early development and attachment and bonding to establish trust and foster learning. At our Whitendale Center, we employee infant and toddler curriculum in Attention, Social and Emotional, Language , Cognitive , and Physical Development. These skills are monitored using the Desired Results Developmental Profile and shared with parents throughout the year. We partner with USDA to offer two nutritious meals and a snack to the children in our care. Our teachers are certificated, CPR certified, and fingerprinted to ensure the safety of children. Family F.O.C.U.S. believes children are successful when family and school partner in the child's education. We offer Parents unique and fun ways to participate in the education of their children. We provide parents electronic access to our Developmental Profiles. Each site has their own Parent Club and all our Parent Clubs have representation on the Family F.O.C.U.S. Parent Advisory Committee.
