History
Simply Music was established by Neil Moore in Australia in 1998. There are more than 700 Simply Music piano teachers worldwide. Neil developed the method, which uses diagrams, shapes, and patterns, to teach a blind child who could not see notated music. The blind child went home and taught his blind sister -- redefining how music can be learned and taught. I have played piano since age 5 and I always wished it could be taught differently -- more naturally and more artistically. It never made sense to learn reading first -- you learn to speak before you learn to read, so why not learn to play piano before you learn to read notes? And why be tied to sheet music? I do teach reading, but it is only one aspect of being musically self-expressed. When I discovered this method, I embraced it immediately. I have performed and recorded my own songs, and I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I love music and I love to teach. The music is fantastic and my students love it.
Specialties
I am teaching lessons online! Call for a free demonstration lesson! I love teaching the Simply Music piano method! This program differs from traditional lessons in that students start by playing songs in a variety of styles -- pop, classical, blues, and accompaniments, and learn note-reading at a pace suited to each student. The results are fantastic and the process is fun and motivating for students of all ages. There are four distinguishing features that separate Simply Music from other, traditional programs: * The quantity of music that students learn * The quality of music that students immediately learn to play * The speed of progress * The ease with which students experience the process. I welcome you to attend a free introductory session in which I explain the method, the results, and how we achieve those results. I demonstrate some of the beginning songs, give a sample lesson, and answer any questions you have. The goal of the Simply Music approach is to allow everyone to be musically self-expressed and to enjoy playing the piano.
