West Hills High School teaches grades nine to twelve in the Grossmont Union High School District. It received an Academic Performance Index score of 774 in 2009, with a statewide target of 800.
The 76 acre sprawling campus is adjacent to West Hills Park and Mission Trails Regional Park and is home to a bright blue football field, tennis courts, baseball fields, a 500-plus seating capacity theater and an amphitheater.
It emphasizes an academics first culture according to the "West Hills Way," and offers students a library, computer labs, AP/Honors, a music program, many clubs and more.
School athletic teams include basketball, football, cross country, track and field, softball, roller hockey, soccer, water polo, wrestling, baseball, golf, gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and volleyball.
As of 2008-2009 the teaching faculty included 94 full-time classroom teachers. The school consisted of 71 percent white and 12 percent Hispanic students in 2008-2009.
