History
Wesley UMC is located in Colonial Heights, Sacramento. Colonial Heights was established in 1910; however, the beginnings of Wesley UMC date back to 1906 when local families in the neighborhood formed a Sunday School on 14th Avenue. On October 12, 1912, a committee met and agreed steps should be taken to organize a Methodist Episcopal Church and on October 20, 1912 a church organization was formed consisting of 26 charter members. The name Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was chosen. The original sanctuary was built and the dedication services for the new church on Vina Vista Avenue ( now 15th Avenue) were held on February 16, 1913.
