Jeffrey R. Watts founded Watts Atelier of the Arts in 1992 as an intimate studio to "facilitate training representational artists in a streamlined and logical manner." Modeled after nineteenth century European ateliers, Watts Atelier of the Arts offers more than 70 classes per year. Some classes are very broad, such as basic drawing, while others are more specialized. The studio emphasizes the benefit of a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure that students receive as much personalized guidance as possible. Classes meet once a week for a three-hour session for 10 weeks, and there are four instruction terms per year. The atelier welcomes artists of all experience, skill and age levels.
