WARMLINE WarmLine believes that parenting is a difficult and challenging job, and understands that parents often feel isolated with their questions and concerns their children. WarmLine's primary concern is for the emotional well being and self-esteem of young children ages birth to 6 years and their families The inspiration for WarmLine came from a similar program operated out of Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Margaret Gannon and Mary Lee Hutson, both licensed Marriage and Family Counselors learned of the services offered in Los Angeles and felt is was something that would benefit the Bakersfield community as well, and in 1979 founded WarmLine. Although the Bakersfield WarmLine maintains a close resemblance of the WarmLine in Los Angeles, we are unique in our use of parents as volunteers and the two groups are not affiliated. WarmLine is a volunteer driven organization that operates as a division of La Cresta Foundation with its own operating standards and board input. We are a not for profit, tax exempt California Corporation that depends largely on the financial support of the Bakersfield community in order to provide quality services to its families. The La Cresta Foundation focuses on the well being of children through counseling and a variety of educational programs to help families build healthy relationships. The Foundation was originated for the purpose of providing a framework in which new and innovative programs for young children could be explored and perfected, and has consistently sought to be a pioneer the development of these programs.
