Walter H. Kaye, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist and the director of the Eating Disorders Treatment and Research Program at UC San Diego Health. With a focus on anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders, Dr. Kaye and his team provide intensive and innovative treatment that addresses the medical, psychological, and psycho-educational health of each individual.
As a professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Kaye also conducts research to understand the development of eating disorders and to develop more effective treatments. His internationally recognized work includes identifying genes related to anorexia and bulimia nervosa, as well as using brain imaging to study anxiety and obsessive behaviors surrounding food and eating.
