Founded in 1896, Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles serves more than 35,000 residents throughout Los Angeles. It offers after-school, Head Start and Early Head Start programs, as well as employment counseling and placement services. The organization provides rent assistance and food, clothing and transportation services to individuals and families in crisis. Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles provides residential and outpatient treatment for alcohol and drug addiction. It additionally provides educational programs to help prevent substance dependency and abuse. With a location in North Hollywood, Calif., the organization is a charter member of Volunteers of America, which is a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization that offers a variety of human service programs, including housing and health care.
