Inside Gelson's Market, Viktor Benes Bakery offers freshly baked breads and pastries every day. The counter display is full of danishes, muffins, cookies, coffee cakes, pies, pound cakes and bagels. Small pastry slices are also available, including carrot cake, brownies, chocolate truffle, creme brulee, eclair, fruit tart and napoleon. Viktor Benes Bakery also features its Allicator pecan coffee cake. A variety of breads to take home include everything sliced whole wheat to pumpernickel rye bread. Customers can also pick up a cup a fresh brewed coffee or a specialty espresso drink.
The bakery is named after the founder, who immigrated to America from Czechoslovakia in 1920 and eventually settled in Southern California.
