Founded in 1937 and spread over an area of more than 20 acres, VHHS is a four-year public high school. It has an enrollment of more than 2,000 students in grades nine through 12. The school serves the local communities of Sunland, Tujunga, Shadow Hills, Lake View Terrace, La Tuna Canyon and parts of Sun Valley in California. VHHS employs more than 75 teachers in over 15 academic departments. It offers nearly 50 courses in art, science, mathematics, language, multimedia, business, music, social science, communications, industrial and occupational arts. It also offers an interscholastic athletics program. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is governed by a school site council. Located in Tujunga, Calif., the school is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
