The University of California, Merced, also known as UC Merced, is the 10th University of California campus headed by a chancellor. Established in 2005, it has three schools that include the School of Engineering, the School of Natural Sciences and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. The university offers educational programs to undergraduates in various subjects, including applied mathematical sciences, bioengineering, biological sciences, computer science and engineering, earth system science, economics, environmental engineering, history, management and mechanical engineering. It has more than 50 clubs and organizations in various fields, such as academic, arts, music and dance, community service, special interests and wellness. Its student government is involved in policy-making, adjudication, programming, lobbying, community service and other activities. The University of California has athletic teams in baseball, soccer, aquatics and volleyball.
