Established in 1945, the Housing Authority of the County of Tulare offers affordable housing facilities for low- and moderate-income families, senior citizens and people with disabilities. It runs the Housing Choice Voucher Program, which includes utility allowances, property inspection and referral listing of holders. The authority also runs the Public Housing Program, which includes applicant screening, and occupant's income verification and credit checking services. In contract with the government of city of Visalia, Calif., the Housing Authority of the County of Tulare provides fair housing services to several city residents. It also works with lenders to help first-time home buyers obtain mortgage products. The authority's affiliated projects include the Clark Court, Transitional Living Center, Poplar Grove Apartments and Mill Creek Parkway. The Housing Authority of the County of Tulare maintains a presence in Visalia, Calif.
