Trained and board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Safer has the unique ability to care for patients of all ages and treat multiple generations of the same family. She selected this field as she enjoys getting to know her patients, working as a team and involving them in every step of their health care. She enjoys listening to her patients which is where she learns the most and allows her to provide the best possible care. She joined Hoag Prime because she was drawn to the core principles which allows her to spend the necessary time with patients and make sure that patient care comes first. She has special interests in chronic disease management, adolescent medicine and preventative care. According to Dr. Safer, “I was first exposed to medicine when I was in high school and my dad underwent heart surgery. This was a pivotal point as I realized I enjoyed the field of medicine and the ability to care for others.” For over 20 years, Dr. Safer has had a very rewarding career in Orange County and enjoys treating a variety of patients, practicing a wide breadth of medicine, and creating relationships with her patients. Dr. Safer attended UCLA medical school and completed the Harvard combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program. She trained at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. Prior to Hoag, Dr. Safer also served as a Clinical Professor at University of California, Irvine where she helped train medical students and residents during her tenure. Dr. Safer speaks conversational Spanish. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with family, mountain biking, hiking and watching sports.
