Established in 1843, Tejon Ranch was founded by four Mexican land grants and is the principal asset of the Tejon Ranch Company, which was incorporated in 1936. The Tejon Ranch is also a partner with three major homebuilders in the development of the master-planned Centennial community. The partnership plans to build a self-contained, sustainable community consisting of about 23,000 homes, along with schools, medical facilities, police and fire stations, recreational facilities and plenty of commercial and industrial space for businesses. Tejon Ranch is also looking to develop a low-density master-planned resort community called Tejon Mountain Village that will feature a mix of vacation-style homes and principal residences in a natural setting. In addition to its ranching, farming and development activities, the company also has hunting, mining and oil production operations. The topography of the ranch has made it a favorite location for the filming of movies, television programs and commercials. Tejon Ranch is located in Lebec, Calif.
