The Bureau of Tax Administration is a part of the State Controller's Office in Sacramento, Calif. It provides assistance in filling out income tax forms. The State Controller's Office has various divisions. Its accounting and reporting division maintains accounts of all receipts, payments, balances in state funds and bonded indebtedness. Its administration and disbursements division provides a broad range of staff support services, including budgeting, accounting, training, procurement, legal counsel and space planning and development. Its audits division determines the legality and accuracy of all claims against the state through the performance of prepayment audits. Its collections division administers and collects the estate, inheritance and gift taxes.
