The Tamalpais Shambhala Meditation Group, part of Northern California Shambhala, was founded in October 2001, and offers meditation, Buddhist Study, Shambhala training, meditation retreats and more.
It offers free meditation instruction and group practice in downtown San Rafael at 734 A St., located just south of Second Street, every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, and on the second and fourth Sunday mornings of each month.
The Shambhala Meditation Group is led by a Shambhala Council, chaired by its current director, Kurt Gundersen. Council meetings are held on a regular basis and are open to the public. A working group supports the initiative of the Council and meets at periodic community meetings, which are also open to the public.
