Sunset State Beach is located about five miles from Highway 1 at Watsonville. There are two beach access points in this park; one is at the entrance and has a small parking area and a few picnic tables and barbecues among the shade of monterey cypress on a cliff overlooking the beach, which is accessible by a long ramp and staircase. There is also a picnic pavilion at the entrance to the park available for day use by reservation or first come.
To get to the other beach access point drive through the park past three campground loops to the end of the road. There is another picnic pavilion and a collection of picnic tables and barbecues on the parking lot side of the dunes. The beach offers a beautiful view of Monterey Bay, Moss Landing and Santa Cruz.
One campground is $35 (one vehicle and eight people) or $225 a night for a group campground which includes up to fifty and ten cars. There is are also hike and bike camp grounds available at a discounted price.
