The Sunnyvale Public Works Department maintains and repairs infrastructure for the City of Sunnyvale, Calif. Its responsibilities include traffic and transportation planning, pavement operations, street trees, median landscaping, concrete maintenance, administration, engineering, water supply and distribution, sewer and stormwater collection and treatment, solid waste disposal and fleet services. SPWD is comprised of seven divisions: administration, engineering, field services, fleet/trees and landscaping, solid waste and recycling, transportation and traffic and water pollution control services. Sunnyvale has a population of more than 130,000 residents and is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, 44 miles south of San Francisco, 10 miles northwest of San Jose and 360 miles north of Los Angeles.
