This independently owned convenience store/Arco filling station is, says the manager, "Just an AM-PM; you're gonna get what you'd expect." Behind the scenes, there are a few unpublicized and unexpected twists. Eighty percent of the water used in the car wash behind the facility is recycled. Solar panels installed on the roof don't generate enough power to "...get us off the grid," says the manager, but the energy savings is significant. All water used here (in the bathrooms, etc.) is treated by a reverse osmosis process (Davis's raw tap water being notoriously unpalatable). There's even a working land-line pay phone out back.
Among the expected, you will find coffee, soft drinks, beer, prepared sandwiches, fresh fruit, snack foods and bottled water.
This is consistently one of the cheapest places to buy gas in Davis.
