The grower-owned cooperative also manages the marketing and sales of its members raisins, 95 percent of which are produced from Thompson Seedless grapes. Sun-Maid Growers of California was established in 1912 by a small group of California raisin-growers. More than 75 percent of the California raisin crop is now grown within 25 miles of Sun-Maid Growers of California s 130-acre processing facility in Kingsburg, Calif. The cooperative s raisins are distributed throughout North America and are exported to more than 50 other countries.
