The Sam and Rose Stein Education Center, located in San Diego, serves special students between the ages of 5 and 22 years. The program serves students with developmental disabilities, such as autism, as well as students with emotional disorders and behavioral concerns. The center s staff comprises special education teachers, speech and occupational therapists, counselors, psychologists and other aide level staff. The center offers academic- and community-based functional curriculum options. Vocational training and transition services are provided to secondary level students, and consultation with a board certified child psychiatrist is also offered. The programs are certified by the California Department of Education as nonpublic schools for special education. Referrals are made by school districts that contract for the special education services and private pay is also arranged.
