The Colton Fire Department works to provide emergency services to the community, through the protection of life, property and the environment from the effects of fires, medical emergencies and other hazards. It strives to mitigate the effects of fires through prevention and public education programs. The fire department is responsible for delivering fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue, fire prevention and disaster preparedness services to the city of Colton, Calif. The Colton Fire Department maintains an emergency rescue team that provides services for rescues in confined spaces, collapsed trenches and high-angle incidents. It also has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) paramedics and hazardous materials response teams.
