Originally housed in an historic mansion that had been donated by local philanthropists, Stanford Home provides alternatives to institutional care for children. The organization focuses on "The top one percent of the most challenged and complex youth within Sacramento County's Child Protective Services, Probation Department and Children's Mental Health."
Previously, Stanford Home did this through group homes. Having closed all its group homes in 2006, it now provides foster care, therapeutic behavioral services, community protection and treatment and family-centered programs.
The organization's current facility near Folsom Boulevard opened in 2008.
