Southside Senior Services DBA Southside Community Connections (SCC) was founded in 1984. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, governed by a board of directors comprised of volunteers from our community. Revenue is derived mostly from generous donations by community members and through grants and other fundraising activities. The SCC mission is to provide health, recreation, social interaction and lifelong learning experiences in a multigenerational setting to benefit active adults over the age of 55. With a $50,000 grant from the Sonora Area Foundation, much needed improvements and repairs were completed to The Little House; it opened its doors in 2009. The Little House is a community gathering place for a variety of programs and activities, such as yoga, bunco, line dancing, and more. In 2012, SCC rolled out its WHEELS program to provide transportation via volunteers for clients who cannot drive due to age, illness or access to a vehicle. In 2015, SCC implemented its Village on the Hill program, which enables members to remain in their homes with safety, dignity and respect. SCC provides help around the home, a friendly face when needed, and daily safety calls. In 2021, SCC launched WAVE (Wheels And Village Express), which uses a small, wheelchair-accessible, bus to provide scheduled service to Sonora and Modesto. Multiple programs within SCC serve all ages, such as The Little House and WAVE. Contact us for more information!
