The Southern California Jewish Center stands on the corner of Westwood Boulevard and Massachusetts Avenue. The 24-karat gold dome and stone exterior was designed in the style of some buildings in Jerusalem. The 25,000-square-foot building was founded by Rabbi Shimon Kashani and completed in 2006. The facility includes a synagogue, a Jewish day school, summer camp and day care center. Additionally, the center has both men's and women's mikvahs, plus a mikvah for utensils and cookware. Regular services, ceremonies and high holy day services are held here. The Southern California Jewish Center has been very involved in supporting Israeli causes, through sponsorship and donation programs. With its location in the Persian Square area of Westwood, many attendees of services are of Iranian decent, but Jews of all backgrounds are welcome.
