History of the SoundMan Bruce Bernards started SoundMan by selling stereos out of the back of his 1963 Chrysler Newport. At the age of 21, in 1974, Bruce had no idea how selling stereos would evolve into such a high tech industry. Over the years Bruce grew the business into a multi-store empire. By 1981 the car stereo business was booming. And Bruce was one of it's founding forefathers. In 1995 Bruce's son Doug Bernards came to work at the shop. Doug grew up at his fathers shop, and knew the ins and outs of the business at a very early age. Doug revamped the administrative department of the business by doing away with hand-written tickets and implemented computer accounting software. Is was then that he was able to focus on picking up some high-end car audio product lines such as McIntosh, JL Audio, Alpine, Audison, Hertz, Pioneer and many more. Soon after Doug became well known for his Outstanding and unique custom installations. Before long SoundMan Car Audio became "the only place to go". In recent years the business has been providing free on-line informational resources. Doug believes that information should be free and takes pride in being able to help fellow car audio enthusiasts, as many have helped him over the years.
