A Family owned Polish Restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica. Formerly called Warsaw (Warszawa) Restaurant, Solidarity was founded in 1973 in Berkley, CA by Polish chef Elina O'Lague who immigrated from Krakow, Poland. Solidarity opened in this location in 1978 and has been here ever since. The building was originally a private residence that was built in the early 1900's and the outdoor patio is the backyard of the original home. Rebranded in 2016 with Elina's blessing Solidarity refers to a union movement in Poland that developed into a campaign for political change and lead to the downfall of communist regimes across eastern Europe during the 1980s. Solidarity is currently run by Elina's youngest daughter.
