Sojourn, established in 1977 and located in Santa Monica, Calif., provides a range of services to women and children suffering from domestic violence. It offers a range of programs that serve women and children of all classes, cultures and religions, regardless of economic circumstances, physical and mental disabilities or immigration status. The programs are also provided to lesbians, elderly women, prostitutes, women with HIV, and substance-dependant women. Sojourn fosters solidarity among women and children, educates the community and society, and works towards political and social change through grassroots activism and individual empowerment.
