While adhering to the California State Standards, Taft Community School tries to get every student performing at their grade level or above. Taft has several different types of classes depending grade levels: Spanish alternative and English Only (SEI) classrooms at the kindergarten, first, and second grades; third grade transition classes; third through fifth EO (SEI); one K through 4th grade district Special Day Class; and one 1st through 4th grade district Special Day Class. In addition to the school's core curriculum, enrichment opportunities include science enrichment, art, singing, dance, gardening and environmental studies, field trips and social justice. Each year, a special team of 4th and 5th grade students is chosen to become Peace Patrol participants. This team wears official Peace Patrol vests and is trained to use specific P.E.A.C.E.
