HistoryThanks to the efforts of the San Rafael Improvement Club the Mosquito Abatement Act of 1915 was passed and the Marin Abatement District was formed; the first mosquito abatement district in California. Now known as the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District, we service all of Marin and Sonoma counties.SpecialtiesThe Marin/Sonoma Mosquito & Vector Control District is a local public health agency serving Marin and Sonoma county residents. We promote health and well being by protecting the public from mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases through education, surveillance, source reduction and control. Our services include mosquito control, delivery or in-house pick up of mosquitofish, in-ground yellowjacket nest control and rodent control advice. We also provide information regarding ticks and tick-borne disease prevention. All services are funded by property taxes and are provided at no cost to all residents of Marin and Sonoma counties.
