Established in 1978, Seva Foundation is a nonsectarian, nonprofit, charitable organization that works to reduce sufferings caused by diseases and poverty. It supports projects in the areas of health and wellness, community development, environmental protection and cultural preservation. The organization has supplied over 2 million visually impaired people woth eye care services in Asia and Africa. Seva Foundation organizes mobile eye camps that support local hospitals and clinics worldwide to provide basic eye care and surgical services. It has partnership with the Center for Innovation in Eye Care, which develops solutions to reduce global blindness. In addition, Seva Foundation works with community-based organizations to address the issues of poverty through projects in various areas, including organizational development, health care, education and women's empowerment. The organization is located in Berkeley, Calif.
