San Jose Family Shelter was established in 1986 to provide shelter to homeless families. It offers food, education and employment services and is located in San Jose, Calif. San Jose Family Shelter is a part of Family Supportive Housing, which also operates Bridges AfterCare and GlennArt Arms facilities. Family Supportive Housing provides one-on-one tutoring for children. Its other educational programs focus on the development of cognitive and socialization skills. The organization offers intensive case management services for adults and assists families in identifying and obtaining permanent housing. It also conducts parenting, money management and computer classes. Family Supportive Housing additionally provides narcotics and alcoholics anonymous and anger management support groups.
