The San Gabriel Police Department preserves human lives and property, protects public peace and the rights of citizens, prevents crime and disorder and enforces federal laws. It maintains uniform patrol, administrative services and investigation divisions. The San Gabriel Police Department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. The department also has the Special Enforcement Team (SET), which deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals.
