San Fernando Valley Symphony has offered Southern California performances of classical master works as well as new music compositions for over 20 years. Led by founder-conductor James Domine, the artistic ensemble provides a showcase for instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, conductors and music educators. The orchestra's host venue is the Pierce College Performing Arts Theatre in Woodland Hills, Calif., where its annual concert series features symphonic, operatic and ballet repertoire. Aside from providing the community with critically acclaimed concerts, the symphony features dramatic productions and Broadway musicals. The artistic ensemble also participates in educational outreach programs. In 1993, the Orchestra Board acquired the corporate name San Fernando Valley Symphony. That paved the way for future expansion of the concert series to other locations and helped establish a permanent regional professional orchestra.
