History
San Diego Solar started in Santa Barbara doing solar pv systems and electrical for the movie stars that had homes in the mountains with no utility power for many miles. Once the laws changed and allowed solar pv to be tied to the grid and net metered San Diego Solar was up and running. Dirk S. Hosmer, the owner got many of the very first permits from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border. Some of the first solar pv commercial systems in San Diego include; Ocean Beach Peoples COOP 30kw 2002, InfoTech Systems 30kw 2003, Cafe Moto 30kw 2003 and hundreds of residential systems before there was a single competing solar company in town. San Diego Solar is a full service Solar, Electrical and Roofing company. We do complete home wiring, lighting, service upgrades, reroofing, generators, landscape lighting, LED lighting retrofits and commercial electrical. Often a service upgrade or re-roofing can be required to do the solar pv system adding to the tax credit.
Specialties
We understand the importance of renewable energy and how to install systems correctly. We're committed to quality workmanship and American Made Solar and Roofing Products. We know how to install solar, electrical and roofing correctly so your roof won't leak and the PV system will perform for a 50 year design life. Most all of our competition only is skilled in one of the three trades needed for installing Solar PV systems. We are journeymen electricians, journeyman roofers and journeyman solar pv installers. We are one of the only companies that can offer complete electrical services, complete roofing services and complete solar services all under one contract. Some of the electrical and roofing services can be considered as part of the solar pv installation if they are required to install the solar system. This can help you get a bigger tax credit if your buying for cash or get a new roof included in your lease or loan payments. 000_0065-1140x395.jpgOften even with a new service or roofing added into the contract the lease or loan payments are still less than your current electric bill.
