The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is a law enforcement agency that manages a staff of more than 3,500 employees. It serves citizens in Del Mar, Encinitas, Imperial Beach, Lemon Grove, Poway, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach and Vista in California. The department operates a detention services bureau that offers medical, mental health, food, counseling and job training services, as well as recreational and religious activities to inmates. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department also manages a human resource services bureau that provides risk management solutions and conducts background investigations. Its management services bureau operates a data services division that acquires, installs and maintains information systems. The department is a part of the government of San Diego County in California.
