The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District, also known as SRCSD, is responsible for the protection of public health and the environment through efficient treatment and disposal of wastewater. The district owns and operates several pump stations and employs more than 350 full-time staff members. The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District is subject to numerous environmental regulations, such as the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR), as well as water reclamation, stormwater and air permits. It also offers various educational programs on water hygiene and sanitation, such as Be Mercury Free and Splash programs. The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District additionally specializes in providing water and methane recycling services.
