Dr. Roshan Patel is a board-certified UCI Health urologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases and disorders. His clinical interests include minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, robot-assisted and laparascopic kidney surgery, as well as kidney cryoablation, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, ureteropelvic junction obstruction and kidney cancer. He earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. He completed a residency in urology at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Mass., following by a fellowship in endourology at the UCI School of Medicine's Department of Urology. Patel’s research interests include outcomes-based studies of minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancer. He also is evaluating the methodology used in percutaneous surgery for large kidney stones with a goal of improving patient outcomes. In addition, he evaluates new technology that have the potential to change the way endourology surgery is practiced. He is the author or co-author of more than three dozen research manuscripts and book chapters, developed several patents and has received numerous awards from international societies. He directs the UCI Health Kidney Stone Center.
