In 1951, Rose Chapel Mortuary was established in Paradise, California by the Rose family. In 1958, Fred Cosgrove came to Paradise from Southern California. A young, single man only a couple of years out of the Air Force, he joined into partnership with Roy and Edna Fager Rose Chapel Mortuary. In 1960, Fred married Joanne Thurman and by 1964 they had two daughters, Pam and Kim. In 1980, Rose Chapel added the Crematory to the business, hence the name Rose Chapel Mortuary and Crematory. As Fred and Joanne are both only children, when their parents retired, all four of them moved to Paradise. The Cosgroves and Thurmans became active in groups throughout the community. More than 40 years later, Fred is enjoying retirement. Pam is busy with the family business and adult daughters, Amanda and Cori. Kim operates a family home daycare and acts as head chauffeur for her children, Megan, Dylan and Casey. The family has changed since 1951, but our commitment to the people of the ridge has not. We invite you to stop by to tour our chapel or visit with our staff. We can answer your questions and help you with your own pre-arrangements if you choose. There is never a charge for this service.
