Rolland "Rusty" Risch and his wife, Juanita, established Risch's Jewelers in 1977 in Atascadero, Ca. ( about 20 miles north of San Luis Obispo, Ca. ). His experience in jewelry, watch, & clock repair as an apprentice under several jewelers has been instrumental in the success of their business. Over the years, he has provided instruction to his four children and several close friends. Because of his knowledge, experience, and reputation for honesty, he was asked to become an instructor. Risch's Trade School was established in June 1995 and has been recognized by the State of California as a private post-secondary learning facility. Risch's Trade School offers many accelerated courses in the fields of Jewelry, Watches, and Clocks. Each course is designed to provide every student with the skills, tools, and resources needed to be confident and productive for the chosen field of instruction and for the chosen skill level. Upon completion of the Repairman course, students are encouraged to complete the Specialist course in order to receive the title of "Professional". Students who complete the Maker course receive the title of "Master". Additional shorter seminars, such as bead stringing, are also available on select Saturdays. Each seminar comes complete with tools, materials, and a Certificate of Completion.
