Revolution Books, in Berkeley since the late-1980's, functions as much as a center for radically oriented political thought as it does a bookstore. While the store offers a modest to impressive selection of books (depending on interest - much of the store's stock is in specialized subjects, though they do carry popular titles, as well), it plays a role in the community as a center for many events with authors, as well as as a space for various groups to meet. The store's website claims, "Revolution books is part of building a movement for revolution...," but don't let this be a deterrent, the staff is plenty friendly.
