Benicia's bar scene was dragged into the "ultra lounge" era of the 21st century with the opening of The Rellik ("killer" spelled backward) by two Benicia men. It boasts an unprecedented set of historic Benicia photos on three walls, sizeable exhibitions of talented painters on another, 12 microbrews on tap, 50 wines sold by the glass, and the plushest furniture and most unique cocktails of any place in Benicia's 160 years of taverns. This site itself has apparently been a bar for at least 110 years, but with artistic décor and signage and modern infrastructure, it certainly doesn't show its age.
They also have an enclosed smoking deck so smokers aren't forced to stand on the sidewalk.
