History
Open by appointment on weekends, best to call before coming out and finding me not there or out painting. Hours posted are times I am usually available. My origins as a painter started with my father being a black and white photography enthusiast. When I was 28, I went back to college to study art at Gonzaga University and completed a BA. I then studied one summer with Sergei Bongart (1918-1985) who inspired me to seriously paint outside. Moved to Sacramento in 1983 and to Auburn in the foothills in 1999. Been painting and selling since 1976 and working part time to pay for my habit when needed. Opened a studio in Sacramento in 1990. Been represented by galleries most of my career, and I enjoy teaching pastel landscape for the last 5 years at my home studio. My original inspiration has always been nature, and its calming effect. 24 years after I started painting I was diagnosed being bi-polar so on some level I was self-medicating with my art most of my life.
