The Recreation and Community Services Department aims to enrich and improve the quality of life in Redondo Beach by providing various programs, services and facilities. Recreational programs include classes, camps, adult sports leagues, afeter school and summer playgrounds, summer swim and performing arts for the disabled, teens and senior citizens.
The Department manages 14 parks in the city (Alta Vista, Anderson, Andrews, Aviation, Czuleger, Dominguez, Franklin, Fluton Playfield, Lilenthal, Perry, Seaside Lagoon, Veterans, Vincent, Hopkins Wilderness) and community facilities including, the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Knob Hill Community Center, Historical Museum and the Veterans Park Community Center. The Department also admnistrates federal and state grants that fund housing services, job training and placement services, counseling for youth and parenting classes and hosts Redondo Beach Farmers Market every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Park.
The Recreation and Parks Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
