History
My grandfather, Ramon Betancourt, established Raymond's Barber shop in 1978 after working in a different barber shop in the North Park area for six years. He cut at Raymond's for 21 1/2 years, 17 by himself. My father, Felipe Betancourt, joined his dad Ramon in 1996. Felipe has been cutting hairhair since he waswas 18 years old, and has been around barbershops all his life. He once was a shoeshine boy at MCRD while my grandfather worked there as a barber. Felipe first shined shoes at a barber shop in Tijuana that was in between a bar and a gentlemens club. Myself, Javier Betancourt, had no idea I was going to be a barber. It just happened, and lucky for me, I have a niche for it. I love what I do. Like i tell all my customers,
