Founded in 1988, PROTOTYPES' Women's Center provides residential and day treatment and outpatient services for women and their children. It is seen as a national model for the treatment of drug abusing women and their children who are also at risk for co-occurring disorders, such as mental illness, HIV/AIDS and trauma. Located in Pomona, Calif., PROTOTYPES' Women's Center is a part of PROTOTYPES, which is one of the leading multiservice, nonprofit agencies that helps women and their families dealing with complex problems, such as substance abuse, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, domestic violence and other trauma, as well as lack of life skills in the United States. PROTOTYPES offers a range of programs throughout Southern California that serves more than 15,000 women and their families each year. The parent company is the recipient of several awards by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
